It has been an eventful weekend for Caden. On Friday we were approached by the neonatologist who asked if we would be interested in having Caden moved to a hospital closer to home -- we of course said "yes". We were at the hospital in Kansas since my OB doesn't deliver in Missouri. So Friday night Caden got to ride with the Children's Mercy Transport team in an ambulance to his new NICU which is only 15 min from home.
Upon arrival they determined that he wasn't doing a good job of regulating his temp and that it was affecting his weight gain, so Caden was placed back in an isolette. While we were first discouraged by what seemed like a set-back, we soon learned it was a good thing. Since his arrival he's not had a single NG tube feeding - which is one of the requirements to get to go home. Today, he was a rock star with his feedings and we are hoping to see a weight gain tomorrow. When his new doctor did rounds today she said that as soon as he figures out how to maintain his temp, gain weight and continue not needing any NG tube feeding he'll be ready to come home. She mentioned that it could be as early as 48 hours or it may take a week. We are hoping that he's ready to come home by next Sunday.

I'm SO excited by this news!!! I'm very happy he's a little closer to home, and I am SUPER happy you're going to get to bring your little guy home soon!!!
Oh Sam this is wonderful. And it must be great to be so much closer to home. I can not wait for the great news that he is headed home.
Hope you remember to take care of his parents also:)
